Grade 11

Every grade 11 student's subject choice should include a minimum of 6 subjects.

Languages

In line with the ministerial policy each pupil must take at least two languages, one of which must be a First Language.

· Afrikaans Second Language is only offered at Ordinary level;

· Othiherero First Language is only offered at Ordinary level;

· Oshidonga First Language is offered at Higher and Ordinary level; and lastly

· If you have Afrikaans 2nd Language in Grade 10, you cannot take Afrikaans 1st Language in Grade 11; and lastly

· If you have English 2nd Language in Grade 10, you cannot take English 1st Language in Grade 11.

Other subjects

· Subjects offered on Ordinary level (only)

o Development Studies

o Home Economics

o Office Administration and Keyboarding Applications

· Accounting, Business Studies, Computer and Design & Technology must be accompanied by a pass in Mathematics (with at least a 3 on Higher Level or a C

on Ordinary Level) to come into consideration for exemption.

· Mathematics: To take Mathematics on Higher Level, you had to take Additional Mathematics in Grade 10 and passes with an A - C grading.

· Physical Science and Computer Studies should not be considered on High Level without at least Mathematics on Extended Level.

· Development Studies and Economics may not be taken together.

Subject Entry Qualification

Admission into the following subjects is dependent on a student achieving the necessary grades in the Grade 10 external examination as listed below:

Subject Higher Level: A-C

Afrikaans ; English ;Mathematics (Additional) ;Physical Science ; Biology ;Accounting ;Computer Studies

Extended Level: A-F

Afrikaans ; English ;Mathematics ;Physical Science ;Biology ;Accounting ;Computer Studies

Core Level: A-F

English ; Mathematics

Uneconomical Groupings

While the school strives to accommodate the choices of every pupil, it is important to note that not every child will necessarily have his/her subject choice met, despite meeting the entry requirements for the chosen subject. Staff limitations prevent learners being accommodated in small, uneconomical groups. If there are less than 15 learners interested in taking a specific subject, that subject choice will not be offered at WHS.
