Edugate Athletics

Congratulations to our athletes who excelled at the Edugate athletics meeting in Otjiwarongo the past weekend. The boys team came first and the girls team came second with WHS being the overall winner!

Soccer

Soccer trials were held last week for all school going u.17 learners in the Khomas region. Of the selected learners representing their respective schools, only 20 were selected from a turnout of more than 200.

Congratulations to Telvin Amamub who has been selected to represent the Khomas region for 2010 that will partake in the upcoming national tournament!

Athletics

Wag ‘n BietjieKanniedoodSwarthaak

The first interhouse athletics competition on the new grass track was held on Saturday, 13 February 2010. All winners of track events on the day are automatically new record holders as the previous records were achieved on a different surface.

Wag ‘n Bietjie was the winners of the Interhouse- and decor competition with Swarthaak the winners of the singing trophy.

Academic Results

Once again we are very proud of our 2009 NSSC and JSC results. In the NSSC (Higher level) exams,10 of the national top 20 learners in Afrikaans First Language are from WHS!

Three of our learners were on the National Top 20 merit list with Chantel van Wyk in the fourth position, Elsabe van Vuuren in the seventeenth- and Fabian Igiraneza in the twentieth position.

Chantel and Elsabe obtained 6 1-gradings, Fabian 5 1-gradings and Eloise Reinhardt, Elzanne Erasmus and Kimberley-Ann van Zyl all obtained 4 1-gradings.

 In the JSC (Grade 10) exam, 16 learners got 16 points with 2 learners obtaining 9 A’s - Lilian Champion and Paula Laubscher.

Four of our learners were on the National Top 50 list : Dupe Owalabi (27), Lilian Champion (37), Julie Burger (42) and Teri Olivier (50)

Seventeen of the Top 50 learners in Afrikaans First Language and 8 of the Top 50 English First Language learners are from WHS!

Jukskei

The Namibian Junior Jukskei players took part in the SA Junior Jukskei Championships in Kroonstad in South Africa in December 2009.

Three of our learners represented Namibia : Jannie Coetzee, Anelda Coetzee and Micheal Horn.

129 Teams took part in the event with 645 players in total!
